Gym Tomorrow

Inspired by the "Angry Indians" card game, this project takes a fresh and humorous spin on the world of health and fitness. While it draws conceptual influence from the original, this card game stands on its own with a unique focus on the often absurd, relatable struggles people face in their journey to get fit.

At its core, the game is a satirical take on the endless cycle of trying—and often failing—to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It highlights the chaos of balancing gym goals with the pressures of work, tight budgets, low motivation, or plain old laziness. Whether it's skipping leg day because of a deadline, blaming bad knees, or claiming the protein shake was too expensive, this game captures the full spectrum of everyday excuses people make to avoid fitness.

The game doesn’t just challenge players—it also challenges the unrealistic expectations around fitness culture. It cleverly counters the "no excuses" mindset by showing that everyone has their own hurdles, and sometimes… those hurdles are hilarious.

Game Objective

The game unfolds through a dynamic card-based system where players are challenged to navigate their way toward fitness, one hilarious obstacle at a time. Each card presents a new scenario—some realistic, others wildly exaggerated—that players must deal with in order to progress in their journey toward becoming “fit.”

Set in a virtual gym environment, the gameplay revolves around balancing time, money, motivation, and the unexpected hurdles life throws at you. From running out of clean gym clothes to spending your entire fitness budget on smoothies and supplements, the game thrives on turning relatable situations into comedic setbacks.

What makes the experience fun is how absurd yet accurate these excuses feel. It’s an exaggerated mirror of reality, where every attempt to do something good for your health is met with hilarious, sometimes ridiculous challenges. Success in the game depends not just on strategy but also on embracing the chaos with a sense of humor.

Game Mechanics

A Card-Based Journey Through Fitness Fails

The game revolves around a lighthearted card-drawing system that simulates the everyday (and often ridiculous) struggles of trying to get fit. Players draw from a deck of cards representing various obstacles, actions, and challenges they must navigate to reach their fitness goals

Card Types

  • Challenge Cards: These cards introduce unexpected setbacks like “No Time for Gym,” “Protein Shake is Too Expensive,” or “Motivation Level: Zero.” Each one adds a dose of humor by exaggerating real-world excuses that derail fitness routines.

  • Action Cards: These provide players with tools or opportunities to counter the challenges—like “Early Morning Motivation,” “Borrowed Equipment,” or “DIY Workout.” Strategic use of these cards helps players overcome the odds.
